Linlithgow Academy

S.M.I.L.E. works in partnership with Linlithgow Academy to support young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

If you’d like to make a referral to join the waiting list for school counselling, please speak with your Pupil Support team or contact the school directly on 01506 843211.

Our counselling team work within the school on a regular basis and are here to provide a safe, supportive space for young people to talk things through.

Rebecca
REBECCA KILGOUR (BA HONS, PGDE, PGDIP Counselling & Groupwork)
Rebecca is a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. She studied at the Centre of Therapy in Glasgow where she achieved her COSCA counselling skills certificate and Diploma in Counselling and Groupwork.
 
Prior to joining S.M.I.L.E Rebecca worked in education for 13 years and she is passionate about helping young people learn about their mental health and wellbeing. Rebecca is dedicated to empowering children and young people to learn about themselves, their strengths, and realise their potential. Rebecca is based in Linlithgow Academy.
 
Rebecca loves languages and can speak French, Spanish, German, Scottish Gaelic and British Sign Language. She has recently started studying her Level 2 BSL and is loving it! She also enjoys walking in nature, wild swimming, cooking, and reading beside the fire with a nice cup of tea.

Sinead
Sinéad DOHERTY (MSc & BMus)

Sinéad completed her Master’s degree in Music Therapy through Queen Margaret University, training in both psychodynamic and person-centred approaches. She believes strongly in the power of music as a form of communication and expression. Sinéad is registered with the HCPC and is a member of the British Association for Music Therapy.

She has previous experience working as a support worker for children and young adults with additional needs, as well as a carer for elderly people living with dementia.

In her spare time, Sinéad enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and running. She also enjoys reading, playing music, and attending live music events.
